Default Photo

Female is larger and typically darker Maroon colour. Male is smaller and more orange coloured.

Of course, these fish can change sex...so if you have two, the larger will become the female.

In this case, the larger is alive and well at 3yrs, 9months.....the smaller at 1.5 years so far.

Update: Over 4 years now for the larger female, and 2 years for the smaller male. This photo could have been taken yesterday as they still look exactly the same. They have laid eggs every 15-20 days for the past few years.
Update - April, 2011: 6 years now for the female, 4 years for the smaller male. Still laying eggs like clockwork.

My Two GSM's died in a tank move, friend tripped and dumped them into the snow. They did not survive. Otherwise i am sure they would be around, they are quite hardy if not one of the more aggressive in the clownfish grouping.

My pair still going strong, female is one of the first fish I put in the tank when I started up. Mine are the more common white stripers though, not gold.

Some photos, from a few years back. One shows the pair not long after the pairing process, when they were still close to the same size. Other photo shows the significant difference in size once they had matured & were spawning.
