Nuisance palys
Without removing rock, what is the best way to remove nuisance palys? I have a ton of them and they are starting to take over some of my rock.

Pretty much anything that will kill your palys will make your water parameters go nuts. Even if the treatment is reef-safe, a bunch of melting palys will not be good for your water quality.

How many nuisance palys are we talking about here??
I removed some with ease, do this out of the tank.... I used tweezers and ripped them off... Depending on the paly some are easier than others. I had a zoa frag that had 8 green/brown palys mixed in. Ripped them off easily because they have a tough outer skin... Be sure to wear eye protection. If that doesn't work throw the paly rock in your sump or refuge and replace with new rock in the display...

Lots of nonsense talk about palytoxin poisoning on here. I thought it was just a bunch of crap. Well I knocked a bunch of palys down over a month ago by scraping off with a paring knife. No gloves or any protection at all. Long story short, 10 mins after I was done I was extremely sick for 3 weeks. All my symptoms lead to palytoxin poisoning. So please be careful.

It's always the ugliest ones that spread like the plague. Also more likely to cause issues with regards to toxins. Mine were a nasty brown green and I went nuts with a knife and tooth brush for an hour. The submerged arm was on fire for a week and I had sores that bled too. I think scrubbing and scraping with long gloves and eyewear might just work. I would do small patches each day and siphon out the junk if you can.
