Wife gave me the Ok to buy a new skimmer.....now which on?
I just about fell off me chair when the wife said I could buy a BRAND NEW skimmer for the new set up but I am having a problem deciding which one.
I have seen some of the new Reef Octopus Diablo skimmer and they look pretty well built. I was thinking of going with an external but have changed my mind to an internal for space savings and less leak potential. Here are the 3 skimmers I have been looking at so if anyone has any GOOD information to share please do. http://www.reefsupplies.ca/online-st...mp-300int.html http://www.reefsupplies.ca/online-st...me-XS-350.html http://www.reefsupplies.ca/online-st...e-DC-Pump.html

No kidding, the wife gave the nod...well then shoot for the Vertex Alpha 300 . I was actually looking at the Diablo until I ran across the Vertex. It is pricey though.

It's always nice to get a thumps up from the wife i would go for either a BK or vertex, they're expensive but it's worth every penny

BK all the way! You've seen how well Doug's Beast of a skimmer works right

Great skimmers BUT From what I understand there are some HUGE changes on the way from the BK supplier that will hugely impact the line. I would hold off anything BK until the announcement is made. |

I have the 300 and I love it. It works great. I am sure the 350 would work really good as well but that's 3 pumps you need to maintain.

Love my new ATI Powercone 250is very easy to use nice new pump and there was hardly a break in period. I am running it on a 380 gallon reef, pulls out some nasty stuff.
Remember if you decide to go with bubble king the pumps are very expensive to replace and parts are alot harder to aquire. Just my opinion |

From experience two things I would avoid:
1) Multiple pumps - more issues relating to consitant water level 2) Pumps mounted vertical - start up issues & propeller wear issues. The diablo looks like the better choice of the three you posted but my advice would be to consider an alpha for you low end and BK double cone DC for your upper. K, as you know I have had major problems with my ss-333int Reef Octopus, BUT after figuring out the problem was a bad venture, I can honestly say this thing is a BEAST, and I do recommend Reef Octopus.
