Default Nikon D3000?

Saw this at walmart of all places for like $450
DSLR 10.2mp
and other junk too lol. Anyways it seems to be a lot better then my nikon p500
would this be a decent camera with a macro lense for close shooting? I played with it a bit, and it seems to preform better then my current camera, and they are on sale for fathers day!

help me sway the Mrs.

I'm not really into cameras, but my understanding is that the D3000 didn't do any video. This may be important to you. Was it just the body that they had for sale or did it include the lens kit? Check out memory express for the D3100 which has HD video. Body is only $399 or body and lenses, $499. 14.4 megapixels too.

Just my two cents though.

No video isnt necessary for this camera as my p500 takes great video this would be a strictly picture only camera, also from what I understand high mega pixels can lead to lower quality pictures if your micro processor isn't powerful enough to handle it. Just what I read anyway, could be wrong.

Have a D3000 and really like it. Great pics and solid camera choice. But yeah, if you want to do video, look at the D3100.

Thanks Seahorse Fanatic
Like I said The Nikon P500 I have isn't fully DSLR but takes full 1080p Video so this is more for shooting. I need something thats has a faster frame rate/shutter speed then my current camera as well as something that I can get better macro shots with, so I saw this and figured it may be a good "1st" DSLR for the photography noob on the go. lol

Now If I can sell my 75g I might actually be able to get it! Lots of offers for it on kijiji mostly around $200 for the whole system... I think I can do better

good deal? or do I haggle? anyone have any experience with Canons?
