What are the potential causes ? besides consumption by corals ?

Well causes can be:

1-starting level is low (salt mix)
2-consumption by corals and other tank inhabitants
3-Major precipitation (not very common)

When you say low, HOW low ? Is this all of a sudden ? Do you dose for Alk and can't maintain or you're just starting to test and see that it's low ?

How's your Magnesium ?
