Mag 36
So I just recently purchased a mag 36 from a fellow member and was reading up on it. Is it true that return pumps are huige energy users?? I almost fainted when i read how much this thing will cost to run on a monthly basis (based on estimate, $30/month approx). This can't be right...or is it? I was always worried about mH lighting. If this is true, is there a more efficient return pump I can use?

Yes Danner MAG pumps are notoriously inefficient. Look at an external pump like a Dart or Little Giant. Better GPH/Watt ratio's

I run a Mag18 for my return (1800GPH), this replaced an OceanRunner6500. I haven't seen any change in energy usage, or it going up. I don't think Mag's are that bad.
