Default Netbooks comments?

Looking for some feedback on 10" netbooks. Any big cautions or negatives?

Because of the hassles of carrying full size laptops on northern flights (need to be checked baggage, so then a hardcase, then weight and excess charges and limits etc), thinking about grabbing a few netbooks.

Use mainly would be for filling in checklists (Excel and Word 2003 based) and checking mail (through a internet server so don't need Outlook).

Default netbooks

i currently use an hp netbook and like for my work (locksmith) pros are its size and can be quite powerful for buisness use hard drive is decent but an external hd is recomended for backups

cons no disk drive you have to purchase an external drive as well battery life is limited be sure to pack power cords

just my thoughts

I think for your needs a netbook should be fine.

Just make sure you get a 6 or 9 cell battery......... which will last 6-9 hours on a charge.

Cheers,
Vic

Agreed sounds like a netbook would serve you well. They are somewhat limited in capacities with bigger tasks. I was all set to buy one until I tried to watch a youtube video on it for example. Better off just buying a smaller laptop for a couple hundred more than an actual netbook if video and pictures are in the future. I think about what I use a laptop for and it's video and photos for the most part these days, so it's something to consider. But text and spreadsheets and etc. - would be perfectly fine I think.

I actually regrest buying my netbook. I just find it a little too slow and a little too small. As a result, I don't find that I use it nearly as much as I thought I would.

My recommendation would be to just go with a smaller notebook that stills offers essentially the same power and speed.

My $0.02.
