Default FO to FOWLR

Hello, I have a 90Gal tank with two Clowns, Cleaner Shrimp, and couple of snails and crabs. I use lava rock so far for aquascape but would like to upgrade to live rock. How do I do this? I have a 10Gal Q-tank that I could use for curing but limited to how much at a time. I would like to keep it open somewhat for lots of swimming room. What do I need to know about buying and selecting live rock. I am looking for a good skimmer, anyone have a used one for sale? Thanks for any advice Marcus.

You can probably get a box of cured from Jayson at www.saltwaterconnection.com.

It will have a bit of die-off, but just have some new water ready for a water change if it causes any ammonia. Alternatively, you could buy a 20g garbage can to cure the rock in.

Marcus,

Do you have a sump? This dictates whether youre looking for a hang-on or in-sump style skimmer.

About your LR, what you could do is clean out your tank and cycle the LR in your 90 gal and keep the clowns ect in the 10 gal for a few weeks while the bacteria does its stuff in your display tank. Then you'd be good to go.

Or you can cure it seperate like Brad mentioned in a rubbermaid, ect.

Thanks Guys, I have a Ammiracle sump that I am runnig a Seaclone as a hang on. My Rio return pump takes up most of the room in the sump. I will try the rubbermaid tub, any guess on how long it takes to re-cure live rock? I am looking to upgrade the skimmer as I Hate this Seaclone but I am on a budget so I would like to buy a used one if I can. I am interested in a Aqua C that would work in sump as I plan on making a larger sump this winter. Thanks.

Marcus
