Try googling it. There is a Reef Keeping article on it. If you google "Vodka Dosing" it should be the 1st or 2nd search that comes up. It will answer your questions.

When you go to your tank and realise that that "reef safe" impusle buy fish you just added has eaten your favorite SPS specimens over night. It is time to go to your cabinet and give yourself a vodka dose.

Then after 3 hours of said fish making you look stupid while you are trying to catch it. It is time for another vodka dose.

And finally as your spouse laughs his/her ass off at your continued futile attempts at catching the fish and your growing panic over the damage you have caused to your aquascaping.....its time for a bunch of vodka dosing

Vodka dosing is a form of carbon dosing, which fuels growth of anaerobic bacteria which in turn increase their consumption of nitrate and phosphate. Vodka is a convenient carbon source but it can also come from sugar and vinegar (and some carbon dosing regimens actually involve all 3).

And yeah .. it's good for drinking or so I've been told.

lol i do the second form of vodka dosing on a weekly rotation and my doses are in large amounts

http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-08/nftt/index.php

there is the reef related form

alot of vodka dosers have had issues with cyro and dino break outs. the problem with it like any form of dosing is your system rely's on it after a certain amount of time. This is where i think my break out happened and a full system withdrawl occured. 4 months later and i am almost in the clear.
