			 Hey everyone,

looking for a bit of advice regarding what type of fish might do well in a 30gal hex. I have built a rock wall as a backdrop using about 25 lbs of liverock so there will be a fairly open base of sand. I will be cycling the tank once the concrete in the wall cures. I will have an 8 gal sump with a 500gal/hr return pump. The setup is very vertical so im looking for fish that don't need a lot of swimming distance. fully expecting to only have 1 or 2 fish in this tank but would like some ideas regarding what will thrive. thoughts? |

That's a pretty hefty pump for a 30g display and 8G sump, I'd get a smaller pump, 90-150G/hr for your return then get a powerhead to make up your flow in the display.

at the change in elevation its set at, it only goes at about 350. I have no powerhead and im going to get some jets for the return pipes. not enough room in the tank for powerhead, so i went this way instead. get some pretty good flow in the tank without the big black obstruction in the corner..
