My New Baby Puffer
Hey guys i got a new puffer today (From Hidden Reef)
My concern is he's quite small and hes going in a tank with an Eel (snowflake) should i be concerned with the eel going after the puffer. The Puffer is about the size of a Toonie. The eel is about a foot long but only about a loonie thick. Any thoughts ? Kyle |

First, one kind of eel is it? secondly the tank size?
I have had no problems with eels attacking fish, maybe others have but most eels are not that aggressive, but again depends on the species.. Kris Post some pics of the Puffer what kind is he? |

i agree... totally dependent on the kind of eel and its personality. has it ever taken a lunge at any of your other fish before?

oh wow, totally missed that well good news is that SFEs (a pebble toothed eel) usually leave fish alone as their main diet consists of inverts like crabs and shrimp. that said, i have seen SFEs lunge at fish just for aggression (not to eat or kill), especially during feeding time. so have you kept your eel with other fish (specifically smaller fish)? were they ever attacked?
for a while, i would keep a close eye on the puff to see if it gets stressed or is attacked by the eel, especially when you feed them. should be okay though i think. |
