The best way to jump start your sandbed would be to add a cup of sand from a fellow reefers tank. I'm sure you'll get some offers.

If your tank has been up that long and you have live rock your sand bed should be just fine with pods growing. Even with an established tank, pod eating fish can dessimate a population pretty fast. Its best to try to get that fish onto prepared foods ASAP, which isn't always an easy task.

With a hang on the back refugium you can get a constant supply of critters flowing into your tank. These cheap alternatives to a plumbed in fuge actually work way better for introducing live critters.
