Lumen Bright Large Metal Halide Mogul Pendant HELP NEEDED!
Hello Canreefers,
For my love of sps corals and wanting them to grow faster than using LED. I got myself a large lumen bright MH pendant. It comes with a socket connecting to a cord and this cord has one ring terminal and two wires (one white and one black). On the other hand, the ballast I bought also comes with a cord that has one ring terminal and two wires (one white and one black). So I got myself some wire connectors and the guy at home depot told me that I can use a metal socket. Not knowing any electricals, I just wanted to make sure that I've got the right parts to properly ground the ring terminals together. Any help/advise is appreciated. The pendant is hung on top of my tank for over a week already. So I'm eager to light it up! Here are some pics. Looks like you are good to go.
Ensure your ballast is unplugged from your power source. Remove any 2 metal punch outs, of your choice, from the box. Insert cable connectors into punch out holes. Mount box using provided screw holes (optional, but highly recommended). Feed wires into box, connecting the grounds (green) together to the box with the grounding screw. Connect white to white, and black to black, using the correct size marettes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twist-on_wire_connector Make sure no wire is protruding from the marettes, and carefully tuck them into the box. Attach cover plate. You're done. Plug in ballast to power source. Post photos of your corals under the new lights! |

So Here It Is! Super Bright!
Hey There,
So here it is. The huge pendant is lighted! Should I be worried about the small deflection on the PVc pipe? It's 3/4" PVC Sch 40 pipe. The deflection is actually not as bad if you look directly from the front. Here are some pictures when I just got my sps corals... when their colour were still... nice. Pictures taken under AI Sol Blue but light was adjusted so that they look like what they are in the MH tank that I got them from. Pictures taken as of today under new MH light after the corals has been in my tank for about a month. After a chemical warfare, high nitrate, probably too much blue light from the Sol and brown jelly disease as a result of the chemical warfare. I hope the colours will come back soon on my corals. The red planet is actually starting to encrust onto the putty. |
