hi guys

I am looking for some advises or pointers from someone who may have got this done before. I plan to build a new tank on my main floor between two beams, it is similar to this



Now, i am wondering if i should have steel stand and then find someone to skirt it or build the whole cabinet? Which way is easier and if anyone has a good recommend cabinet builder that can do this for a reasonable price?

Concept Aquariums will build custom steel stands and then you can build the wood exterior around it, I was lucky and my husband did the cabinet himself… perhaps a good cabinet maker (i.e. kitchens) or concept might be able to recommend someone.

Start with a steel stand Tai then you has something solid that will not deteriorate under your tank. Then its also easier to attach any panels to the stand easily.

Thanks Greg, I understand that you can attach panels to the stand with magnets but not sure how they will hold panel because magnet will slide up and down easy. Can you show me how to do it? Thanks

Thanks Robb, hmm i don't think i have the space to build a a full wood frame outside of metal stand because of limited space and i want the longest as possible, I guess it is probably my best option to build the whole cabinet for it. I am going to contact some cabinet builders and get their quotes. Thanks all

Sure thing big guy. Here's one showing one door and a close up of the top hinge. I use what is called a Tec screw to attach to steel stand, drills a hole and then treads it.

Mine certainly could have been built narrower if the design called for it. I probably have at least 10" of extra space front to back. I might prefer that front frame be attached to the stand if I had the chance to do it again.
