Acan placement and growth

Hey everybody,

I was wondering if you could help me with a question about my Acans. I have had them since march and they have been placed on the sand bed since then. They have done great and have some great growth with an additional 6 heads from when I got them when they only had 4 heads.

Now here's my question, do Acans grow a skeleton? Will they just turn into a big ball of Acans with a skeletal structure underneath? Or do I need to put them on a rock to spread?
