![]() I haven't seen my little yellow clown goby in 2 days
![]() He's usually always visible when not hiding under the mushrooms. There is nothing in the tank that could harm him(maybe hermits )I know some gobies are jumpers, but didn't read anything on this type being jumpers(found no body on the carpet).I don't run a sump,so no worries about being sucked up into the sump.I'm hoping he's hiding in a cave and will come out on his own ![]() Are the yellow clown gobies known jumpers? ![]() Well,I think I know what happened to my missing goby.Tonight while looking into the tank with a light,I spotted a blue lobster looking critter,I think it might be a mantis shrimp
![]() What do I do to make one of those traps?Should I just leave him be(could it be another kind of hitch-hiker?)I dont have a camera to take a pic. On the plus side, the rock is near a year in the tank and I'm still finding differant things(everything from crabs to sea urchins ![]() Jim |

![]() You know, this would be really evil, and it goes against everything I believe in, but couldn't a person (with no compassion at all) just remove the rock containing the mantis, and fill the hole with crazy glue, effectively encasing the stomatopod, wait a few minutes for it to dry, and throw it back in? Apparently they can dig through rock so simply sealing the door wouldn't help. You'd need to immobilize him.

![]() You could also just remove the rock and let it sit out for about 10 mins or so, then shake it until the critter pops out (I did this for my lobster, he wasn't damaged in any way)

![]() Yes, that would be the less evil way to do it.

![]() I finally seen him completley out of the rock after waiting with the light. He is complete blue in color with 2 distintley differant size claws(looks like a blue crawfish)and is only about 1 inch long,so now I don't know what this thing is?maybe just a blueish colored shrimp that was hiding all this time in the caves. He seem busy trying to collect rubble to bring inside his hole.
The piece of rock has lots of caves and narrow crevices,so I can only guess what else is hidden inside Jim |

![]() I finally caught him
![]() From what I've read/seen photos,he looks to be a very small pistol shrimp,so he stays untill he does something wrong. The blue coloring is dark with black bands around the tail, and one claw is quite a bit larger than the other.(wish I had bought a dig camera instead of video cam) |
