![]() I'm interested in using an LED for my sump so chaeto can grow! but I dont know which LED can I use! Can anyone help me!

![]() I used 2x 10w LED flood lights for my Cheato.. works great.. I harvest half a 5g pail ever so often.
6500-10k spectrum works well. Red will work probably the best as Algae loves the red spectrum, but I have not tried this. |

![]() The algae only really needs blue and red, ideally more red than blue. So for a DIY project an array of 8 or so 3W LEDs would be plenty, either a 50/50 mix of blue and red or a 60/40 split of red to blue. There are also plenty of plant LED grow bulbs that will also work.

![]() FWIW, on the algae scrubbers the guys are using 660nm reds and getting crazy growth. 6 reds to one blue has yielded some of the best results it seems.
