![]() I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for the best place to read up on building a large fish tank stand out of wood. The stand dimesions will be 84" long by 36" front to back and about 30" in height. I'd also like a 16" overhang around the back of the stand and 8" on each side for walking around the tank. I'm not putting the sump under the tank so I don't need to worry about that. Supporting the weight is more important. Thank you.

![]() i've built many stands for large tanks.
basically if you use doubled up 2x4s to make 4x4 vertical posts ever 1.5-2 feet. it'll hold it no problem. for the top use 2x4s on edge and brace them from the front to the back of the stand heres a picture of a stand i build a couple months ago. the 4 corners of the stand had solid pillers that were 4x8 inches solid wood ![]() |

![]() That's beautiful. You went with 4X8 posts so you can have a lot of access under the stand correct?
