Filter pads

I got a small hob running on my 10g reef tank with a generic filter pad.... i only use it for 3 or 4 days then chuck it out... what should i put in the pad.. of course it has carbon in it but is there anything else i should use in the hob filter that will benefit my reef and the water?

I've been using chemi pure elite in my tank. you could do a phosphate remover too
