![]() Well this comes up now and then so I thought i would ask what you guy's do ?
I am looking at buying an aqueon tank stand for my 40G breeder , i got the price of 139.99 and 161.95 from the 2 shops where I like to go - I prefer to go to the shop that quoted me the higher price but $20 is half a bucket of salt. I am usually extremely loyal when I get good customer service - case in point I buy all of my cat food small animal suplies from a local pet store on average I spend 25% more to shop there and I pass 3 or 4 cheaper places on my way there why ? They know me by my first name, they ask about my kids and know each by name , they also sell fresh water fish and supplies and I buy my prime and other things like my fluval spec from them, there prices are fair but not the lowest. For me service comes 1st - and a friendly smiling face is awesome ! That being said neither of the 1st 2 stores knows me by name in fact I am starting to feel like a bank card to the higher priced store ![]()

![]() In my opinion i never hurts to ask in my opinion especially if you are repeat customer. Usually if you talk to the right person they are able to discount the price by a minimun of 10%. I done this before in Calgary.
That being said though as you mentioned customer service is very important to me so I don't mind paying a bit extra for items.

![]() Myself I ask if the price can be matched and if not I buy from the place with the best price. Its an expensive hobby and every bit of $$ saved is a bonus. Also one can bartar as I have learnt there is a very high markup on some items. Some places have high prices and lousy customer service which boggles my mind how they stay in business.
