Metal Halide Ballast

When you're running two 400W HQI Metal Halide bulbs at each end of the tank, can you run both of them off a 2-400W Metal Halide ballast or do you need to buy an idividual ballast for each light?

The 2-400w ballast is 2 individual ballasts in the same case.
