Default Does anybody use the Squid Water Director by 3IQ Ventures

just wondering how fast the switching is at 1400 gph? and how what the input and two output sizes are (3/4, 1')?

I hear it switches very fast at 1400gph. They are definatly less effective with higher flow rates.

And I belive they are 3/4" hose barbs in/out.

Default SCWD

Just checked the website (www.3IQVENTURES.com).
The in/out are 1/2 inch ID, not really barbed much,in the picture.
Here is the switching frequencies:
Flow Efficiency Ratings
Below is data provided by one of our distributors as a result of flow testing. Using powerheads of various gph ratings they were able to provide flow-in ratings, flow-out, switching speeds, and efficiencies.

Flow into SCWD SCWD Output Efficiency Switching Duration
150 gph 90 gph 60% 22 seconds
180 gph 120 gph 65% 16 seconds
240 gph 180 gph 75% 12 seconds
270 gph 210 gph 80% 10 seconds
330 gph 240 gph 80% 9 seconds
400 gph 360 gph 90% 7 seconds
600 gph 540 gph 90% 5 seconds
720 gph 660 gph 90% 4 seconds

...from this 1400gph looks like apx 2sec switching speed....thats a mite quick, for me.
let us know how it works for you.Did anyone mention any noise from theSCWD?
great reefing

To bad you cant fix something up like that... kind of a cross between a Squid and a zoo med power sweep... You'd think you could set up a by pass so a portion of the water went to the switching mechanism.

When I get my basement cleaned up I'm going to try using a rotisserie motor to sweep a power head back and forth.
