![]() Merry Christmas all!
I'm just thinking about hooking up a float valve to my sump setup for auto top off. I never really thought about a solenoid until someone pointed it out the in the auto top off thread . I've checked out the one at J&L but I was wondering if there was another one out there that functioned as well but was cheaper and available locally. TIA Christy ![]()

![]() I know people that use the solinoid in conjunction with their RO/DI units for auto top-off but there is a warning: not reccomended for level control in the aquarium. WHY?
From J&L's website: (http://www.jlaquatics.com/cgi-bin/sh...gno=ro-kpfvkit) Complete Float Valve Kit The Float Valve Kit allows an RO to fill a reservoir to a desired level, then shut down water production completely. This kit works from pressure only, no electricity. Included within this kit is a pressure solenoid, float valve, check valve, a 1/8" elbow, a male 1/8" x 1/8" connector and 1 foot each of blue and orange tubing. Not recommended for level control in aquariums. [/i] I want one of these too. Can anyone answer why you can't use them for auto-top off? Too much on/off's for the solenoid? |
