Default SPA Flex

Is spa flex supposed to be able to slip inside a female end of a hard pvc connection? I have 1" spa flex and 1" elbow and the spa flex is pretty loose inside the elbow.

found when building my system the Spa-flex fit into the fittings like the rigid PVC pipe did and basically needed the lubrication for the glue to bottom out.
