Hey, has anyone used Mangroves as a natural Nitrate filtration system??

yeah i use one mangrove sitting in an ac50. it has its one little diy light and a little sand bed in there. it works very well for my 25g. i used it along side a skimmer and then when it was established took the skimmer off and replaced it with a cheato fuge with an ac70
