. http://www.infowars.com/avatar-banned-in-china/ . Avatar has become China’s most successful movie after making nearly £47 million, but that hasn’t stopped the country’s government pulling the film from some of its cinemas over fears that it could cause political unrest. The China Film Group, which is run by the state, believes the plot of human colonists attempting to demolish an alien village for its resources steers too close to a very sensitive issue in China at the moment. Millions of Chinese people have been evicted from their homes to make room for high rises and government infrastructure projects, reports The LA Times. Avatar’s success has also angered some Chinese officials, who fear the film’s popularity takes too much market share from their domestic films. http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/blog/arti...-in-china.html |

![]() Not many american movies are even screened in China anymore. They started limiting screenings because of a trade dispute in 2007 with the states.

![]() Someone should pirate some Chinese movies using cheap Chinese DVD-Rs. I mean, you can be sure someone over there is already pirating copies of Avatar.
I haven't seen it yet.

![]() Hello,
I think it's more of a western propaganda. I watched Avatar in China and the movie has been available in both 3D and 2D versions for quite some time. It's just time for other movies to rotate in. There are all sorts of western movies here. Can't expect every single one of them to be screened in addition the the local Asian flavors. Likewise, I can't imagine all of the Asian movies also being screened in Canada either. The moves of the local population in cities are called for. Some of the cities are extremely outdated and the buildings outlived. Absolutely nothing compared to what you'd see in Canada in terms of standards. So when it comes to massive rebuilt, then it's time to be rebuilt. However, yes corruption with the local officials have caused unrest because people aren't being fairly compensated for. But then again, this is also happening in HK with the recent China-HK railway project. An entire village needs to re-locate because otherwise the railway needs to make a detour. Most of the government agendas are fine. It's the local corruption that's causing problems. And there has been a huge crack down earlier on. Titus
