eshopps hang on skimmer_ Help!!!!

I turned of the skimmer to clean the cup and end up moving some liverock around. When I turn it back on it wouldn't stop overflowing and producing a lot of micro bubbles in a tank.
The handle to regulate the air flow doesn't make any difference.
It was working perfect for two months. And I normally turn it off once a day, when I feed the fish.

I and up taking it out and cleaning it(including the pump inside) in case of hair got socked in there. Didn't make any difference again.
Spend all day trying to fix the problem, I can't think what else to do.

If anyone have any suggestions please help.

can you prop the cup up higher? I have a HOB skimmer and I have to use a hair elastic to keep the cup a little higher, or else it will over flow with clear water!

There is only less then half an inch of space to do so on my skimmer.

It basically pumps water from the tank fast. I have a return hose what comes from the cup back to the tank. I left it to run for a few hours, hoping it will brake in but only end up with the tank full of micro bubbles.

As with all skimmers, to reduce the overflow you reduce the input of water to the skimmer or ajust the amount of air being taken in by the skimmer.
If you can reduce the amount or water or ajust the flow rate of the air input, that would settle your skimmer.
Alot of times as in your case i suspect it was something on your hands that caused your skimmer to overflow, perhaps an additive at the same time to the tank, even adding food to the tank can cause a skimmer to overflow.
These things settle with time, turn it on as slow as you can,, reducde the water intake by whatever means works and play with the amount of air your skimmer is intaking.
Thats about all i know, someone else might have a better answer.
