Default Sps nano???

How viable is a 20 gallon sps nano tank with T5s as metal halides are way out of my price range for one lump sum anyway
I think it's a 20g high rimless

what t5 fixture are you looking at using?

something like a sundial would be great for monti's, birdsnests and some acros (slimmers) but make sure you upgrade your bulbs.

but lighting isn't the huge issue with nano's, the key to keeping sps is stability and in nano's everything fluctuated very easily. salinity flunctation is where alot of people struggle so if your planning on runnin a sump add a ato.

Yeah T5's are fine for sps but can you keep the nano stable enough for sps?

Very doable. My tank is 20 gallons, and I have plenty of SPS. But as was said before, stability is the key.

Ok so I was planning on getting a ro/di so waterchanges are no biggie a ato prob won't be hard and im open to all light fixtures but i'm wondering if when I do a wc in by bow reef if I dump it in the 20 with the extra ro/di water and cured live rock and sand does that mean I got a cycled tank or will there still be lots of die off. Oh any nano skimmers recomended and if I add a 10 g sump is it still a nano

I have a 16G nano with a mix of SPS and zoas. I have a 6G sump as well.

My light fixture is a mix of MH and T5HO but all T5HO's should be just fine.

You should still cycle the tank simply because patience is the key to putting together a successful nano. Go slow, start simple and then expand.

As for Nano skimmers, I use the BMQQ from Bubble Magus and it's been very good. Others have had great things to say about the new Euroreef nano skimmers and about the Tunze 9002.
