Default Acrylic DIY

First of all, I'm new to this website so hello!

I'm absolutely new to everything. I'm currently planning a DIY acrylic tank for my girlfriend. It's kind of an above/under tank.
I'll tag the design of it. Anyways the dimensions are 3'(length)x18"(width)x10"(height) for the under tank and 3'x5"x5" for the above thank. I was wondering if 1/4" is going to be thick enough. And if so, how much would it cost? It's going to be around 26 gallons for the under tank. And does anybody have good suggestions on how to frost acrylic?

If the tanks are braced well with one or more center supports then 1/4" is fine, if not you'll have to go thicker.

1/4" is about $5/sqft

You can frost acrylic with sandpaper.

How much difference would it make if it was to be built with glass?
As in strength of the material, thickness, cost, etc.
Love the quick replies on this site! Thank you!

Glass is much harder than acrylic and 1/4" material won't require bracing for that size of tank. Glass should be cheaper and will be easier to assemble.

would be easier to just buy the pieces frosted already then frosting them your self. That way you get a even frosting
