Default Resiliconing a tank.

I am resiliconing a tank and was wondering if the glass has to be 100% clear of the old silicone to make a good seal. Also what would be a good aquarium cleaner to loosen the old silicone (viniger?).

a wack of razor blades and acetone. I has to be ablsolutly clean
