FWIW eggcrate only helps a little but is no guarantee. Wrasses are jumpers and sooner or later they'll try. I had a canary wrasse who I thought was too big to fit through eggcrate but.. somehow he did. He either had a one in one million shot, or he shot out with enough force to lift the eggcrate enough to let him pass by and then the eggcrate fell back down in place.

Not to be a .. you know .. downer or anything. Sorry. Just sayin'. Wrasses have a super sensitive startle response and it can be something as simple as another fish where they don't expect them to be and suddenly ... zzzzzzzip! Sudden burst of speed, and sometimes that vector takes them up and out of the water it seems.

Yup, eggcrate is no guarantee, mine carpet surfed a few times, my daughter found him and put him back once, my wifes cat found him the second time and didn't put him back....Bad Kitty
