Wow, every time I see a tank like this it really makes me want to try a non-photosynthetic tank. These tanks ARE possible, but it's like doing a species tank for cephalopods or seahorses...it really needs to target the special needs of the inhabintants. I am surprised that he's using a skimmer on the tank, but then look at his feeding practises, I suppose once he floods the water column with that much food he needs to get it out before it pollutes. Crazy he has a US$2300 skimmer on a 65 gallon tank!! However, I do think that this particular skimmer probably significantly contributes to his success as these skimmers are designed to keep plankton in the tank and out of the skimmer. Very interesting design.
