mh hqi de 250 watt bulds

well i got my new toy today. ice cap 250 watt hqi de set up.
what bulbs do you use, what k.
i am looking at radium bulbs.ushio bulbs, or xm.
i have had mh before but its been almost 2 years.
and i can,t remember what the colors looked like.
any in put on bulbs would be great.
i ran xm bulbs before. 10k 15k.
please help me make my pick.
then we can talk about 2 part doseing! lol

thats a nice ballast you got there.
you should check out sanjay joshis website where he evaluates many bulbs using that specific ballast.

I don't have a link handy, but I'm sure if you google "sanjay joshi 250 analysis" his site (I think it is either manhattanreefers or advanced aquarist) should coem up.

You'll take the guesswork right out of it.
I am looking for those exact ballasts for my 250 phoenix 14k bulbs.
Best par for a 14k (or near best) and very nice blue and actually very well rated on your new ballast by Sanjay.

I have the Phoenix bulbs and they are great. Look exactly the same as the aquaconnects IMO, but a lot easier on the wallet.

Par analysis on both the phoenix and the aquaconnects shows that they may be the same bulb.
There are reports that they come out of the same factory and are rebranded.
The phoenix are significantly less $$$ though.

there's always the $10-20 eBay bulbs.

Personally only used the Hamilton 14K (loved the colour but 2 bulbs only lasted a month each) and Ushio 14K (find rather yellow but can't complain about the growth).

I like them, but to me the aquaconnects look a little crisper and brighter.
