Default blue eyed cardinals

I have a total of 7 and recently when feeding have only seen 6. I thought 1 had passed away, today I say 7 and I had to count 5 times as I thought I was going crazy.

Upon further inspection all of them but one had fat bellies. The one that was skinny had a lump in the bottom jaw, knowing that cardinal fish are mouth brooders it made total sense. How long do they carry eggs and assuming this is the only female in the group I am afraid that she will starve from too much sexy.... Anyone have any suggestions?

Doesn't the male have the big jaw and carry the eggs?

Yup, I looked it up. It's your little man who may be oversexed...but I doubt he'll complain.

edit: sorry, it says "most" cardinalfish species are male mouth brooders, but I'm not sure on the blue eyed's in particular
