Default Guaging interest: Siganus virgatus pair

I have a dilemma, and the solution may involve finding a new home for my pair of S. virgatus rabbitfish.

These are awesome fish, great algae eaters, great personalities, very pretty and very hardy.

One is approx. 6"-7" and one is approx. 5"-6". I would prefer these fish go together as they appear to be a bonded pair (at least they school together). They are in a 30x30x30 cube (115g volume), and I think they should go into a tank in that volume category or larger. A standard 90g tank may do the trick if otherwise not too heavily stocked.

I love these fish and it pains me to consider this. So it's imperative that if they go, they go to a good home. As such I'm prepared to be negotiable on the price, especially if I happen to know the buyer. Board rules dictate that I specify a price so I'll tentatively offer these at $80 for the pair.

This is a picture of the smaller one when he was REALLY smaller!

Please PM me with interest. Thanks!

Have you had any issues with either fish nipping at or eating corals or clams? If not, I may be interested. I currently have a 125 gallon tank.

The tank they are in has very few corals at the moment, the ritteri anemone puts out way too much nitrate. But they don't touch the few softeys I have in there, nor the clam I have in there. For what it's worth though, at various times in the past I've had zoanthids, ricordia, SPS, blastomussa, bubble coral alongside the larger one (I've had him longer than the smaller one) and he never really showed interest. I guess fish can change tastes but I think the key is just keep them happy with nori and it should be OK.

They are fiends for nori, spirulina (pellets and flake), valonia (!!!!), .. basically anything you offer them they eat up like crazy.

I have one in my 65g and one in my 120g that was in a frag tank previously with zoa, SPS, LPS, shrooms etc...both are model citizens as both their current tanks also have corals in them. I LOVE this variety as I have only had good luck with them and they are pretty!

Awe! You make me want to adopt them!

Why do they need to go? Nitrates?
