Default refugium lighting

What kind of lighting would be appropiate for a refugium that is 14"H x 14"D x20"L?
It wiill have about 2" - 4" of LS,Cheato, some LR with various macro algae and probably some zoas hitchhickers.

You can use 18" Standard Fluorescents, 17" Linear PCs, 24" T5s, a couple screw in PCs or try something new like an LED setup. Among other things.

I bought a 12" x 12" LED Grow Panel for my refugium, cost $50. Not hooked up yet though.

Thanks.

Would a Sunpod HQI system w/ 14k bulb be too much?

Use a more full spectrum bulb, algae won't grow very well under a 14K, it's mostly blue spectrum. A 6500K would be good.

If you already have the Sunpod then go with that but change the bulb out to a lower Kelvin Spectrum (Or let it run until it burns out). Your other option is something like a screw in reptile fixture with a 100W incandesent bulb.

I went to Home Depot and found Philips Daylight CF bulb. Got two for $12, I can stick it in my heat lamp fixture (or any fixture really). Rated at 6500K. UPC on it ends in -"21097 7" Bought the 23w one.
