i split a garbage bag so I can spread it out nice n big. They're cheap so if I don't feel like drying it off I throw it out.

I also have a towel handy for quick wiping.

I bought a cheap bath mat from Superstore and I lay it out infront every time I do tank work, water changes, etc. It has a rubber bottom to it, so it doesn't slip, and doesn't leak water through very easily. Throw it in the wash when it gets a bit crusty and good as new.

The best carpet protection is a spouse who says, "you're not putting that thing on my good carpet".

I have a 2 step mini stair directly infront of the tank and to the side a rubber maid lid I usually try to get my wet hands and corals on the lid however if it falls mostly goes on the top step of the chair followed by me drying off my arms with a towel then wiping the mini step oh yea and the towel usually hung on my shoulder like a dirty chef or once I used my magnet cleaner to clamp it on to the side of the tank.
