![]() That is a fairly generalized question. What type of system do you have? If you have a fish only tank, I don't think you need to buy more expensive salt. I would recommend Instant Ocean. If you have a reef system and want to maintain higher calcium and magnesium levels, you may prefer some of the more costly salts like Tropic Marine Pro or Ocean Pure which tend to have higher levels of Ca and Mg. However, many experienced reefers still have great success using good old Instant Ocean and just add more Ca and Mg. I think it is largely personal preference or what you have used and learned to trust. Also, a lot depends on what is available locally. I have to travel 2 hours to Calgary to buy salt and everytime I go the LFS have different salt available. Last time I bought 10 buckets of Ocean Pure to last me at least a few months.
