![]() Some pictures I took at the Steinhart Aquarium in Downtown San Francisco. Website is: http://www.calacademy.org/aquarium/
The freshwater tanks were pretty amazing (Take a look at the huge bass and ell - the hand in the picture is one of my team mates hand, who is 6'7"), but it was hard to stray very far from the 18 foot deep, 20,000 Gallon reef tank. Almost as impressive was their frag setup. They are moving next year and are growing coral for their new location (they are hoping to have enough coral to fill 800 sq feet by next fall). I believe that all of their coral is aqua-cultured coral, much of the existing display coral was initially donated by local reefers.
