Default 400W DE Metal Halides?

I was just wondering if anyone can comment on the 400W double ended metal halide bulbs. I need to replace two out of four of my metal halide bulbs and I would like to upgrade my ballasts to a PFO ballast as well. I've got two Geismann 250W 20000K DE bulbs running off a dual 250W PFO HQI ballast now and the color is great. Since I'm planning on going for a bigger tank down the road anyways, I'd like to start upgrading to 400W halides now if I can. I noticed the PFO 250W HQI ballast is more expensive than the PFO 400W HQI ballast and I assume it must be better in some way. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Jason ,the problem is that ,there really isn't any good DE bulb selection for 400W.
I am not sure if you are using a hood or retrofit however the ICE CAP DE pendents ,are the only ones that can be used both for 250W & 400w,this way you have the option.
Also for you current set up,if you need more PAR ,what I recomend is the
AQUACONNECT 250W 14K DE,using the ballasts you have they will have the same color of GEISMANN 20K DE & will have twice as much par.
We just imported these bulbs & they are already @ some stores ,in BC you can buy them from Hidden Reef & Alberta Golds.

I hope this helps

Thanks. That makes sense.

Thanks. That makes sense. Would the 14K rating actually be as blue as the 20K though?
