Default Hotels in Vancouver

Does anyone have any suggestions for nice Hotels in Vancouver? I will be visiting family in Chiliwack in mid October and would like to sneak away with my wife to Vancouver for a night.

(P.S. Hoping for something a little better than a Holiday Inn or Best Western)

The Pacific Palisades is all suits. Great location and funky design but they are getting a little old. but it's right on Robson Street downtown

Depends on how n$ce. I have stayed in downtown Vancouver quite a bit for work. The Four Seasons actually offers a fairly good Corporate or Government rate and is very very nice. I have also stayed at the Hotel Vancouver and the Westin Bayshore - both are very nice. I have also stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown on I believe Howe street and it is a very nice Hotel. I know that I have stayed at others but if I can I try to stay in the Four Seasons - I just don't eat there.

PM sent.

The hotel my wife & I like is the Granville Island Hotel, on the east end of Granville Island. Very nice place & you can walk around Granville Island at night after the crowds are gone & enjoy the waterfront.

Here are my three best choices.

The Metropolitan is right downtown next to Pacific Centre Mall. It is a small luxurious boutique hotel. The rooms are well-appointed and dead quiet. No view out the windows. Overall an excellent choice.

The Coast Plaza Hotel has an excellent location just off Denman Street, next to the seawall and Stanley Park and right near dozens of restaurants. It has one and two bedroom suites as well as regular rooms. The suites have a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and one or two bathrooms. Some of the rooms are older, ask for a new renovated room, the older rooms are OK but the renovated rooms are very nice. Not as nice as the Metropolitan but the advantage of having a kitchen makes up for it. Free milk and cookies delivered to your room every night. The oceanview rooms are excellent, a good oceanview room will have a panoramic view including the North Shore, Lion's Gate Bridge, Stanley Park, English Bay and UBC.

The nicest hotel I have ever stayed in is the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, out of the way but very nice.

Muck.

A beautiful hotel is the PanPacific Hotel.. its quite expensive (we put up Catriona Le May Doan there for $400 a night). but you could probably get cheaper rooms due to the off season...

I would also recommend the 4 seasons (I love their half indoor, half outdoor heated pool), fairmont waterfront, or Opus (where all the celebrities stay).

the Hyatt, The Sutton, the Westin. all great...

Here is a link to Tourism vancouver's Special Hotel packages which are updated frequently.

Incidentally, the DVBIA is sponsoring granville as a "Tax free zone" event in October and you could get a room at a Ramada at a "Tax-free" rate.

Considering it's downtown.. thats not bad of a deal....

Sutton also does this amazing chocolate buffet (think all you can eat chocolate crepes, desserts, fruit fondue etc).... more details on that later if interested...

Before you book a hotel I recommend you read the reviews on Tripadvisor.com and save yourself some grief.

I once stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Robson. Thought it would be ok as it is part of the Hilton.

Anyhow I got a Jacuzzi Suite with my husband and it was a blast. Floor to Ceiling windows over two sites too.

Can't remember how much I paid but thought you might want to check it out.

Guess it all depends on how much money you want to spend? I have always wondered about the Wall Center Hotel. ANybody stayed there. I think they were 3 bills a night.
