I was just wondering why Ive never seen a pic of a cowfish on canreef. There seems to be a large # of people from calgary on here. With the amount of cows I see in the lfs there has 2 be someone in here with a few pics to share?

Unfortunately, cowfish are not really reef safe. So hopefully somebody with a nice fowlr will post some pics. I love them too.

Hey Stinky! Very very cool fish! I would love to have one...has your's grown quickly or quite slow? If he is only the size of a toonie must be fairly slow growing. I would LOVE to have one in my FOWLR but I do have a couple of corals in there (frags from my reef) that I would be worried about him touching. (Yeh kind of defeats the purpose of a FOWLR) Also the idea of him "expiring" and wiping out the tank is a bit of a bummer....what fish do you have him in with?

I had 2 cowfish die before getting one to live.Never had any problems with tank gassing.I even had a black female boxfis die in population and no effects.I think that is over arted and the only fish I would be worried about is a blue boxfish. The cowfish I have now was the size of a twoonie when I got him.Right know he is with his tail maybe 7 inches. He grew fairley quick. The fish I had with him are cling fish , 6 line wrasse, scooter blenny, lawnmower blenny, long nose hawkfish, and a cubicous boxfish. He lives in a 120g but I still think I will need a bigger tank in a year or so.If you have ever been to riverfront the cowfish in the display there is smaller than mine.

When diving in Belize last Feb I was lucky enough to see a blue one at least a foot in length. They are an awesome fish. Nice pics.
