Default Silly RO/DI question

Hey, this is probably a silly question, but what's the difference between this:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/USA-110GPD-RO-DI-...QQcmdZViewItem

(incase the link doesn't work, it's a 110 GPD RO/DI unit that takes standard media for $120.00)

and this:

http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/s...t_ID=ro-afb100

for $280.00?

Thanks.

About $160 AND you get more more stuff with the one from the ebay sale.

just do a thread search on aquasafe, they've got very positive feedback here. Just make sure to get a tds meter so you know when to change filters and di resin.

Order from Aquasafe. It works great! Remember that the 100 or 110gpd is based on optimum operating conditions and temperature. Much less if source water is cold. There warehouse is in North Vancouver. If you call them and order you should get a little better deal on shipping in Canada.

Now see, this is where it gets shady. One person says there is no difference, and the rest say get a much more expensive Aquasafe RO/DI unit. So, is there really THAT much of a difference (like $100.00+) difference in the quality of the output?

Regardless of manufacturer, your RO/DI kit should be taking whatever water you put into it and putting out between 0 and 2 ppm of dissolved solids.
I have an aquasafe unit and it's been fantastic for me. Production isn't quite what they say, but that's because my incoming water is cold, and all RO/DI units drop in production when the water is cold. I got the maximus kit, which was about the same as the cost as the one at J&L, but I got a pressure guage, the holding tank, a TDS meter and 7 complete sets of filters and 2 huge bags of DI resin.

This is what I gathered - *any* (properly working, ect ect ect) RO/DI unit will bring water down to 0-2ppm... So if this for $120 does it, why do people buy the ones for $275? Am I missing something here? Why would people pay more than twice as much for the same thing? Why does J&L sell ANY ro/di devices - if it's so much more money? This is one of those things that just seems too good to be true. I've been wanting a water cleaner for a while but had a hard time swollowing the $275 price tag - but $120 is no biggie (+ the crazy $40 shipping).

There is nothing different judging only from the pictures.

You also have to remember that not everyone shops around online, especially those of us who aren't computer savy. That's why some places can sell items for much higher than others. You also have to remember that online shopping is still relatively new, and a lot of people still don't like to buy things without going to a store to physically hold the item.

I've had my Aqusafe for about a year and trust me, no LFS brand can top it. Levels are still at .01 ppm.
