![]() I think, from what I've read, Sun corals multiply by spreading outwards and growing new heads. They don't drop off and reattach or anything like that.
The peice could have fallen off due to the decay of the skeleton at the base of the individual mouth. It makes that particular tube brittle (more so the usual), and suceptable to breakage and damage. |

![]() Its likely that it was just broken off. Its a brittle coral by nature, maybe it was knocked or something. Who knows!

![]() I also believe they multiply by expanding across their rock with new heads. But I,m not an authority on them. They were once and I guess still are, hard to keep alive, requiring constant feeding.
The frozen Cyclop-eeze would be a good food for them, and perhaps one of the liquid foods now being used to keep goni,s alive and reproducing.

![]() A way that I've found very helpful is to cut a pop bottle in two and put it over the sun coral, to allow all the heads to come out and feed.
I feed mine frozen mysis, cyclopese, brine shrimp (frozen or live), usually soaked in garlic. |
