Regal Tang in a 73
Can I put a Regal Tang in my 73? Or is that way too small. I really like the coloration on them and would love to have one. I have no corals or clams. Just FOWLR.

I do have a Regal tang in my 77gal tank. Although he is 3-4", I find now more than ever that these creatures NEED a larger tank and that was my main reason for getting a bigger tank now. You can see how they stride across the wall of the tank so quickly and how they get bord really fast. I feel so bad for him....they NEED bigger! Tank upgrade COMIN my friend!
I would say if you get a small one, sure. But if you have no intentions in the near future of upgrading to a bigger tank, then thats just not fair to the regal, he won't be happy, then dont get a regal. Of course another option is getting a tiny one and growing it up a bit get a bigger tank. Or when it gets to big, if your not ready for an upgrade I'm sure you would have no problems selling him in the livestock forum, so the regal could go to bigger home. But in that case... can you let go when that times comes if you can't upgrade tank? Is it fair to the Regal to be in such small quarters. The answer for me was....no.

I'd say yes but then again it's iffy. I've done the bigger tank stuff and each step has gotten more and more expensive. Now I'm down to a 54 corner and although I'd love a tang I just know I can't do it. I'd say if you're going to get a 6ft long tank then yes but if you are not going to upgrade the 4ft tank then use caution.

I would say no, everything I have read says they love the swimming room. In my 140 it is all over the place sometimes at top speed, and even at that I feel sorry that I can not give it more room to get a good head of steam.

A tiny regal needs a smaller tank with less flow...They are not strong swimmers.
What size tang are you talking ? Obviously, a large regal needs a very large tank so it can even try to achieve it's ocean growth potentia.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread but what about in a 65 gallon tank? With 80 lbs of live rock stacked in a patch reef configuration there is lots of swimming room, do they need a certain "length" to be happy?
