Default air pumps

just wondering what the word is on useing air pumps in a s/w tank?
from the advice of the fellow i bought my fish from is not to use them.
But from what i heard on here he might not be a good source.

thanks again for your time

Default Air pumps

You can use them but they create a salty mist when the bubbles reach the surface, causing salt spatter that could lead to your equipment rusting. If you are using glass over your aquarium it will cause the glass to become discolored over time leading to less light penetrating through.
