Default crab i.d

Hi all,I noticed a crab last night in my live rock,i did'nt get a great look at it.it is grey in colour with pink or red eyes its about 1-1/2" across.it hides in the corner and curls up when the light hits it.sorry no pic's.does any one know what it is and if it is reef safe,if not how do i catch it ?thanks Paul

Crabs with red eyes usually means bad news. Personally, I don't trust any crabs, including hermits.

How long do you think you've had it? Have you noticed any destruction you think it may have caused?

Hi i finally caught the unknown crab.it only took me three hours of watching a net with a piece of salmon in a pipe elbow but he finally went in and i swooped him up.i am going to post some pictures tomorrow so hopefully someone can name it Paul
