Default Open Water (The movie)

Did anyone else have the urge to rent this movie about a couple that gets left out in ocean by a scuba tour group? It's suposedly based on a true story.

I rented it on the weekend!

This movie sucked IMO!

I want the 1-1/2 hours of my life back that I wasted on this bomb!

Well I will be the first here to say I really enjoyed it
I was left out 25miles at sea about three years ago off the coast of Cuba so I can relate I guess.
I can also see why most would say it sucked, but until your in a situation like this, it's just not the avarage day in the water.
I was told by my diving instructor that we would have to swim and I said there's no way I could swim 25miles, his reply "we wouldn't make it all the way but we would have a better chance of being picked up by a passing boat". From that moment on I thought I was done-fish food, also from that point on everything runs through one's mind and that's what they tried and did portray in the movie. While I was swimming in deep cool water every thought crossed my mind like: who's gonna feed my fish, who's gonna pay my car payments, who's fault was this, how could I be so stupid, etc.... That's why I liked this movie, not because of it's lack of crazy stunts, spectacular special effects, or years of dramatic writting more for the fact that it told a story that is truly frightening when you put yourelf in "there fins". This is also a very low budget indie movie, not some big block buster from Warner Bros that cost millions to make.

If anyone is interested in reading about my event, let me know and I can paste it on here, it may help some of you realize that life is pretty precious.

i thought the movie was alright.
i thought it was pretty well done for what it was.
has definitely got me thinking twice about going scuba on my next tropical vacation.

Catwoman, now there's a guaranteed waste of time. trust me.

I was kind of into the movie even after realizing that it was a super low budget cheesey production (I noticed this in the opening moments) because it was after all based on a true story.

So after watching 1-1/2 hours and then seeing them both dead at the end I felt ripped off.

After all, how could it be a true story if they both end up as fish food?

Who told this true story? The sharks and gulls?

Sorry, but I'd like to boot the producer in the nad's!

And I'll never get my 1-1/2 hours back!

I'd love to read about your event Rich.

heh, well they did find that camera in the shark...

perhaps they had taken photos of them standed in open water with nothing else to be seen in the horizon... shots of them wading with shark fins circling them, or even underwater photo of them being surrounded by sharks?

anyhoo... based on fact or not, it is not a documentary, it is still just a movie.

for having a vague idea of what the movie was about, it was still OK for how it was done. (over a long period of time on a limited budget).

but yeah, dont watch this movie if youre looking for excitement or a blockbuster type movie.

hey, go watch "Napolean Dynamite". vote for PEDRO!! hahhahah. Gosh!
