Im pretty sure they are not reef safe, i think they will eat certain corals like polyps.

No
No
Maybe

Interesting little critters, when you can see them. I had two for a while. Sort of like a couple insects hanging around each other.

Murray, I would stay away from Camel shrimp. If you like the coloration of them, check out some Peppermint shrimp as they look very similar.

I was looking at live aquaria and it seems like an up in the air topic if they are reef safe.

Peppermints will eat anything you feed the fish as well as scavenge. They also (usually) eat aiptasia which is a good thing if you end up with an outbreak. I think they are reef safe, but I've only had softies so I wouldn't want to say I'm certain.

Just noticed- there's a discussion about peppermints going on this board right now. Main message there- if you get a peppermint, make sure it's a peppermint if you're worried about reef safe!

i have two peppermint shrimp that were eating my mushrooms and frogspawn. i had to take my whole tank apart to get them out.

they were in my tank to eat an aptasia outbreak, they did a fantastic job at eating those. i had the shrimp in my tank for about 6 months with no coral at all. when i put the corals in there they started eating it like crazy.

maybe they were just bored of fish food. i have never heard of them eating corals before.

just thought i'd let you know my experience.
