![]() I'm seeing adds for Rainbow Euphyllia.
Rainbow Torch for example. Are these new to the trade or just new marketing? The pics I've seen don't look like anything new to me.... |

![]() I feel this is marketing hype, I'm pretty sure these have been imported for a while and are now being branded "rainbow".

![]() Yellow, green, brown base for the most part some people may call the base purple but it's closer to brown so 2-3 Colored rainbow. I personally think the Aussie gold torch is nicer.

![]() That's my thought as well.
A fairly common thing in this hobby, unfortunately. Where is that quote from? Does anyone know where and when these started to be marketed as such? A rainbow torch definitely SOUNDS nice. |

![]() Could be that under LEDs these corals "look" different? i.e. different coloured emitters shining a rainbow of coloured lights on them" giving them a "rainbow look" compared under say metal halide. The one pic I see in the LF thread is for a Indo "gold" torch, so could even be that "rainbow" torch is another name for "Indo gold" torch, to differentiate it from the more golden Aussie variety. Confused yet? I vote that marketing does come into play.

![]() That could make sense.
Definitely a big transition over the last few years from MH/T5 to LED. So some corals we've had around for a long time may very well all of a sudden look a little different. That's interesting food for thought. I also wonder if the steadily deceasing variety of corals that are allowed in the trade somewhat force distributors to get creative.... |

![]() Its all marketing.
Like some vendors are now rebranding gold torches to something new and exciting so they can charge more. |
